District Programs

School-to-Career

The Cotati-Rohnert Park Unified School District Board of Trustees has adopted a School-To-Career Board Policy. This policy calls for all students to meet high standards of academic knowledge and skills and the ability to apply their skills to the workplace, where they will be required to adapt to emerging technologies and changing societal needs.

Class Size Reduction

In Cotati-Rohnert Park almost all K-3 classrooms have 20 students or less. For grades 4-5, the average class size is approximately thirty students. Class size varies at the secondary level.

Distinguished Schools

Five of the District elementary schools, most recently Evergreen, and La Fiesta, along with Waldo Rohnert, Marguerite Hahn, and Monte Vista, both middle schools, Creekside and Mountain Shadows, and, Technology High School have earned the California Distinguished School Award. This selection process focuses on successful implementation of curriculum and instruction reforms. These schools were recognized for the outstanding educational programs that they offer to their students.

Gifted and Talented Education (GATE)

The elementary GATE program is a magnet program housed at Marguerite Hahn and Waldo Rohnert elementary schools. The GATE programs at Creekside and Mountain Shadows middle schools serve students for a portion of their day in classes that offer instruction specifically designed to meet the needs of identified students. Many opportunities are available for GATE students at Rancho Cotate High School.
